Well known for harnessing the taboo of¬†voyeurism¬†alongside that of public and spontaneous night based sexual encounters, photographer Kohei Yoshiyuki regularly documented the meetings in 80’s Shinjuku and Yoyoshi (Japan), within an archive of explicit yet undeniably intriguing high-contrast, black and white images. The images stand as a testament not only to the sexual consciousness that existed beneath the radar of normality in 80’s Japan, but also to the desire to express freedom through becoming a spectacle, voluntarily.
